My Thoughts:
This wasn’t even on my TBR list, but I only decided to read this in between getting the next book I plan to read from my local library (always support your libraries btw!) that I wasn’t able to get over this past weekend due to a storm and it was the long weekend.
This was a good heartwarming and also a heartwrenching story, all about the importance of friendship, death, change, and loss of innocence. Wilbur a very small pig gets saved by the daughter of the farmer, Fern. Fern then had to sell Wilbur to her uncle when Wilbur ended up being too big. And Wilbur befriends Charlotte, a Spider who promises that she will save Wilbur from being killed.
The unlikely friendship between a pig and a spider makes for some good reading. The friendship between Wilbur and Charlotte was one of my favourite parts of the book. This short book can teach kids about respecting other living creatures and how we can all live in peace with one another. The Circle of Life is definitely present in this book as we go through birth, life, death and rebirth again.
This was a good quick read, and while I may not be the target audience for this book, this was a delight.
